Axon Spikes

From ILB

The Axon Spikes are live conversations between players and Melissa. She asks the players for a name, a rank, some proof that they are human/a member of her ship's crew, and has a brief conversation with them. She also asks for a phone number where she can reach them in the future.

Each person who takes part in a successful conversation with Melissa selects a navy rank, and is now believed by Melissa to be a part of her crew. These 'Spikes' are her contacts she feels confident are truly her crew, and thus will be given secret information that isn't to be shared.

Relay Spikes

On October 5, the "seeking" axons required a relay. Once an axon was successfully answered, Melissa would ask the crewmember for a seven-word passphrase. The axon would then be updated with the crewmember's name and rank, and the message "PENDING RELAY CODE COMPLETION." Within an hour, another crewmember at a different axon had to repeat that passphrase back to Melissa to unlock the .wav file. The axon was then updated with the second crewmember's name and rank, and the message "RELAY CODE COMPLETE." If no one successfully completed the relay, the axon's message instead became "RELAY CODE EXPIRED." Fortunately, Melissa kept trying with new crewmembers, even after a code expired.
