Durandal

Durandal is a character from Bungie's earlier Marathon series of games, one of three Artificial Intelligences aboard the UESC colony ship Marathon. It is found early in the series that Durandal is undergoing Rampancy, and through much of the series provides the player with information through various terminals.

Durandal's name is taken from the legendary name of Roland's sword. Legendary sword names have been used for other AIs (notably Cortana) in Bungie games.

Durandal is not likely a part of this ARG or of Halo, but is an important character in Bungie's past and may have been used as a model.
