Greene was the captain of Melissa's ship, the Apocalypso. She had sealed orders for her mission,¹ which evidently included gathering intelligence.² She had family on the colony Troy.³

When the ship intercepted and decrypted a Covenant transmission indicating an imminent attack on Troy, Greene at first refused to follow Sorenson's instinct -- which was to leave immediately and report the potential threat -- recognizing that there might be more important issues. She then concluded that their job was to report the transmission.⁴

Captain Greene was the person to whom Melissa first confessed her suspicion that something wasn't "quite right" with her.⁵

Greene didn't want anyone tampering with the mysterious cylinder they found adrift in space.⁶ When the Apocalypso returned to Earth with it, Greene told Herzog about finding it...but none of what she told him ended up in the "official" reports.⁷

Greene is now dead -- some sort of suspicious accident.⁸
