From The Queen's memory that The Sleeping Princess gave us in her 8/13 e-mail:

McKaskill is male, and young. Melissa catches him trying to send a slipstream message -- without clearance -- to someone (The Old Man) who apparently was once on the ship but is no longer there. The message relates to the mysterious cylinder Artifact. Melissa does not turn in McKaskill, in exchange for which he tells her that he thinks that the Old Man is from ONI.

McKaskill makes it to Earth after the Apocalypso's crash, and takes a "black taxi" ride with James James and Jan. He tells them that he ran the "tool crib" on the Apocalypso, which was "Black Op." After his return to Earth, the brakes on his motorcycle went out, injuring him. He believes that someone is trying to kill him and the rest of the crew: apparently Captain Greene may not be the only one who was hit by a suspicious bus. He seems to have developed unsteady nerves and a drinking habit. When James James tells him not to talk, McKaskill says, "You sound like the Op." Which we assume to be a reference to the Operator, Melissa's nickname.
