Talk:Yasmine
From ILB
I've also seen spec that she was chosen to be a Spartan and the Yasmin that died was a flash-clone (apparently, the Spartans were kidnapped and replaced with flash-clones). FWIW. -- Clamatius 18:24, 9 Sep 2004 (EDT)
The age she "died", the manner in which she died and her suspicions that men were waiting to take her away support that she was adopted in a style nearly identical to that of the SPARTAN-II's. Sadly that doesn't necessarily bring us closer to knowing if Yasmin is Janissary, because the SPARTAN-IIs would probably be whisked away from Earth. --GunsmithCat 18:50, 9 Sep 2004 (EDT)
Just remembered that Yasmin is a variant spelling/pronunciation of the name Jasmine. (Is it sometimes abbreviated to "Jan"?) Not a solid Yasmin-Janissary link, but it is rather suggestive. --Anton P. Nym 21:01, 9 Sep 2004 (EDT)
Suggestive but tenuous. Yasmin and Janissary may both shorten to Jan but that doesn't mean they're the same name. Also, if Janissary was a fake name chosen by her so she could keep being called "Jan", Durga would most likely have found out. -- Clamatius 21:09, 9 Sep 2004 (EDT)
Maybe Durga would have found it... or maybe it's protected by the same kind of measures that surround James2's hidden past, which Durga was previously instructed to leave alone. There's nothing that rules it out yet, and I'm rooting for the link 'cause I think it'd tie all three of the axon storylines together, but the link is tenuous and I'm waiting on further evidence before really putting much stock in it. --Anton P. Personally, I rather like Rose's spec that Yasmin was the human whose brain was used to create Durga. That would explain why Durga is interested in Kamal without knowing why (or being allowed to know why). -- Shadow 22:54, 9 Sep 2004 (EDT)
Just thought of another tenuous link between Yasmin-Janissary; the ages are right. Yasmin died at age six, when Kamal was ten. Janissary is now 17 (and the age has been given more than once... hint of its importance?) and Kamal is now a junior med student which would make 21 (four years older than Jan) a very reasonable age. Still not conclusive, but the little things are starting to add up.--Anton P. Nym 09:43, 10 Sep 2004 (EDT)
Also remember JJ was reading a manual on raising kids. Maybe because he didn't know how when he "got" Janissary? His unit could well be a caretaker unit, fits his skill set. This leads me to the SPARTAN-III theory of things, though, because this seems different from Halsey's project. Question ... probably for Anton ... isn't 6 a bit old? I mean, I know they have to be developed enough to watch for certain things, but it seems Jan would have vague memories of her brother. --GunsmithCat 10:10, 10 Sep 2004 (EDT)
IIRC, six is spot-on for a SPARTAN induction. John was evaluated before induction in the school playground. It's not clear whether it was kindergarten or first grade, but somewhere around that maturity level. Six would be a tad young for induction as an AI matrix, though, as the neural pathways are still growing. Or, at least, I think they are... great, now I've gotta research pediatric neurology. Another book on the pile... --Anton P. Nym 11:17, 10 Sep 2004 (EDT)
just a thought... in Melissa's first monologue, when her brother gets 'washed away' by spiders, could that have something to do with her memory being erased? Melissa's seeming to be more and more the center of everything here - like one character, when young, was flash cloned for the spartan induction, and copied for an AI matrix... in its most complex speculation, Janissary (Yasmin) was Kamal's sister, taken at age 6, an AI flashed, which became Melissa/Durga, and possibly the Princess if SP is a self-made copy of Melissa due to enemy threats, where the SPDR is one of a program template assigned to AI's, at least in their infancy, as a protective measure... the Flea is a covenant hijacker... that wild spec would draw ALL timelines together... --thebruce 11:50, 10 Sep 2004 (EDT)
